Cosmological constant problem on the horizon

چکیده

We revisit the quantum cosmological constant problem and highlight important roles played by de Sitter (dS) horizon of zero-point energy. argue that fields which are light enough to have a dS energy comparable Friedmann-Lema\^{\i}tre-Robertson-Walker (FLRW) Hubble radius main contributors dark On other hand, heavy develop nonlinearities on sub-Hubble scales cannot contribute speculate our proposal may provide resolution for both old new problems noting there exists field, (lightest) neutrino, happens mass present background photon temperature. The predicts multiple transient periods in early late expansion history Universe, yielding higher value current rate can resolve ${H}_{0}$ tension problem.

On the Cosmological Constant Problem

We prove that Weyl invariant theories of gravity possess a remarkable property which, under very general assumptions, explains the stability of flat space-time. We show explicitly how conformal invariance is broken spontaneously by the vacuum expectation value of an unphysical scalar field; this process induces general relativity as an effective long distance limit. We show that all ghost degre...

3 Cosmological Constant Problem

The cosmological constant problem is reviewed and a possible quantum gravity resolution is proposed. A space satellite Eötvös experiment for zero-point vacuum energy is proposed to see whether Casimir vacuum energy falls in a gravitational field at the same rate as ordinary matter. 1 Cosmological Constant Problem • It is generally agreed that the cosmological constant problem (CCP) is one of th...

Back Reaction of Cosmological Perturbations and the Cosmological Constant Problem

The presence of cosmological fluctuations influences the background cosmology in which the perturbations evolve. This back-reaction arises as a second order effect in the cosmological perturbation expansion. The effect is cumulative in the sense that all fluctuation modes contribute to the change in the background geometry, and as a consequence the back-reaction effect can be large even if the ...

A Solution to the Cosmological Constant Problem

The fluctuations of the vacuum energy are treated as a non-equilibrium process and a stochastic model for the cosmological constant is presented, which yields a natural explanation for the smallness or zero value of the constant in the present epoch and its large value in an era of inflation in the early universe. Typeset using REVTEX 1 It is widely considered that the problem of the cosmologic...

An Issue to the Cosmological Constant Problem

The status of the cosmological constant Λ has long been discussed, whereas it is clearly established in General Relativity (GR) as universal constant. Therefore, similarly to Newton constant of gravitation G, its value has to be estimated from observations. However, such an estimate does not agree by hundred orders of magnitude with its expected value as obtained from quantum field theories by ...
